Young Adult Internship
Program
Accepting Organizational
Applications to Place
Interns
The Young Adult Internship
Program (YAIP) is working
with the city’s Department
of Youth and Community
Development on a Bloomberg
initiative that aids
individuals
in the age range of 16-24
find 3 month placements at
internship sites, followed
by assistance in finding
employment or enrollment in
school. These placements are
completely free of charge to
your site, as the city
covers the wages for the
intern.
The role of your company
would be to provide an
environment where the
intern(s)
would be able to acquire
practical work experience.
The intern should serve as
an
employee of the company,
fulfilling tasks as needed
per the supervisor’s
request,
withstanding any immediate
harm to the intern. Upon
completion of the
internship,
successful candidates would
be assisted in securing
permanent employment and/or
enrolling in school.
YAIP is seeking businesses
and other organizations to
provide our participants
with
meaningful internships or
full time and part time
placement. Intern salaries
and
insurance coverage are paid
for by the City of New York.
Participation in YAIP will
connect your business with
the emerging workforce,
strengthen your ties to your
community, and enhance your
profile. Choosing to hire an
intern from this program
would be a great way to get
some additional assistance
from qualified employees,
but also to help an
individual who wants to
expand his or her skills. At
the end
of the internship, we would
hope that you would consider
the individual for any
full-time opportunities, and
additionally, we also
currently have candidates
available
for full-time job placement.
