SUMMER 2009 LANGUAGE IMMERSION EXPERIENCE
The Hostos Language Immersion Experience offers introductory-level courses in
Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Italian and Spanish. These context-based
courses for beginning language learners require little or no knowledge of the
target language. They are designed to teach students basic written and oral
communication skills, and provide a foundation in grammar, pronunciation and
vocabulary. They use a communicative approach to develop fluency and teach
listening, speaking, reading and writing skills in cultural and social contexts,
utilizing authentic materials such as written texts and audio and video-taped
materials.
